After the week

Six modules of the companion curriculum are left over after three days, and most of them answer a question that the week raises without settling. Weights and Missing answers take apart the two measurement-level decisions that the menu opens beyond the Multi100 task, and The items behind the scales examines the instrument behind every outcome on it. Binary outcomes goes one step below the scales and fits a single item of that instrument as a yes-or-no outcome on the real respondents. The individual level fits the same claim at the level at which its author fitted it, on a synthetic person-level dataset, and answers the question of composition – whether an aggregate association comes from the mix of people in each country-year or from the national conditions they live in – which the aggregate panel can only pose. Building the analysis file is the route to the real respondents for anyone who downloaded the sixteen Eurobarometer files under their own GESIS account.

If three days do not suit, the one-day course is day 2 with the credibility argument and the toolchain of day 1 compressed into its first part, and its tools-focused and methods-focused variants are shorter versions of days 1 and 3. The semester format spreads the same material across a term, and the self-study track has neither a timetable nor a cohort.
